Police shoot, kill man after alleged knife attack

— Officer involved shooting #3, homicide #33 for the City of Oklahoma City in 2025

OKLAHOMA CITY — A man was shot and killed by police early Sunday after allegedly charging at officers with a knife outside a southwest Oklahoma City home.

It is police shooting #3, homicide #33 for the City of Oklahoma City in 2025.

Patrol officers with the Oklahoma City Police Department responded around 5:22 a.m. Monday to a report of a man threatening suicide in the 3500 block of SW 17th Street.

When officers approached the front door, Eddie Hill, 41, opened it while armed with a knife and charged at the nearest officer, according to Captain Valerie Littlejohn with OCPD.

The police account of the incident says that Hill ignored commands to drop the weapon and continued advancing. Officers then shot Hill. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The four officers who fired on Hill — Juan Quintana, Adam Brown, Isabel Sanroman, and Marcus Oliveira — have each been with the department for one to two years. All have been placed on routine administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

No officers were injured.

The internal investigation of the four officers now begins as they go on routine administrative leave.

In police shootings – internally termed “officer-involved shootings” – the officers go on paid administrative leave while evidence is gathered by OKCPD investigators.

Then, that information is turned over to Oklahoma County District Attorney Vicki Behenna, who has determined that all officer-involved shootings will go before a grand jury to decide whether to bring charges against the officers.

Once that decision has been made, the internal investigation moves forward after questions about whether the shooting was a crime have been resolved.
