OKLAHOMA CITY (Free Press) — Two died Thursday in a home near Lake Overholser on Oklahoma City’s west side from what police believe was a murder-suicide.
Constance Shaffer-Duey, 69, and her son, Noel Shaffer, 30, were found dead by Oklahoma City Police (OKCPD) officers responding to a “check welfare” call.
The home is at 2209 Graham Avenue, Oklahoma City near N.W. 10th Street and Council Road just across a fence line from Putnam City West High School and a few blocks away from the eastern shore of Lake Overholser.
OKCPD is counting the death of the mother as homicide number 53 for the City of Oklahoma City in 2022.
Sgt. Dillon Quirk with OKCPD said in a news release that officers found both “inside the home deceased from gunshot wounds.”
“It appears the victim, 69-year-old Constance Shaffer-Duey was shot by her son, 30-year-old Noel Shaffer before ultimately turning the gun on himself,” said Quirk.
The investigation is still in its early stages.
