Oklahoma City tallies four homicides in bloody weekend

OKLAHOMA CITY — Four homicides in less than 24 hours over the weekend pushed the city’s total to six in the first 18 days of 2026. Details released Wednesday by the Oklahoma City Police Department show the killings occurred between late Saturday night and Sunday evening in separate incidents across the city.

Argument leads to fatal shooting in northwest OKC

Police responded to a shooting at 11:43 p.m. Saturday at a residence in the 3000 block of NW 41st Street. Officers with the Oklahoma City Police Department found 33-year-old Artis Reed dead at the scene from gunshot wounds.

Detectives believe Reed had been involved in an argument just before the shooting. The alleged shooter, identified as William Johnson, 54, had left the area on foot but was located shortly after and taken into custody.

Johnson was booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on a murder complaint. His bond was set at $10 million.

Less than an hour later, at 12:38 a.m. Sunday, officers were called to a business near NE 23rd Street and N. Kelley Avenue following reports of a shooting.

Detectives said a verbal dispute began inside the store and continued into the parking lot, where 41-year-old Thomas Lovelace was shot multiple times.

Police identified the suspect as 18-year-old Deonta Walker. He was arrested later that morning during a traffic stop near NE 29th Street and was also booked on a murder complaint with bond set at $10 million.

Teen killed in northeast apartment shooting

At 6:16 p.m. Sunday, police were called to an apartment near 601 N. Stonewall Ave., where they found 19-year-old Emmitt Gresham suffering from gunshot wounds. Gresham was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

No suspects have been arrested, and police have not yet determined a motive. Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact the Homicide Tip-Line at (405) 297-1200.

Domestic dispute ends in stabbing between brothers

Later Sunday night, a domestic incident ended in the stabbing death of 25-year-old Nicholas Spencer at a home near SE 44th Street and Sunnylane Road.

Police believe the suspect, 19-year-old William Spencer, became angry while playing a video game with his older brother and stabbed him. Officers arrested Spencer at the scene. He was later interviewed and booked into the county jail on a murder complaint.
