OKLAHOMA CITY — A woman was arrested Tuesday in connection with the November 2024 death of her infant son, more than seven months after police responded to the original call.

Police believe Brennan Spencer, 33, was caring for her 2-month-old son, Rory Kelson, on the morning of Nov. 2, 2024, at 9744 Mayview Court in far SW OKC when she caused the infant’s death.

This is homicide #37 for the City of Oklahoma City in 2025.

When patrol officers with the Oklahoma City Police Department arrived that morning, emergency responders were already on the scene performing CPR on the child, who was later pronounced dead.

Spencer was booked into the Cleveland County jail Tuesday on a complaint of second-degree murder. Authorities have not publicly released details about what led to her arrest.

In an interview with Oklahoma City Free Press, MSgt. Gary Knight said delays in arrests are not uncommon in child death investigations.

“That’s not unusual in these child abuse cases, especially when there’s a death,” Knight said. “Because if there’s other kids in the house, which in this case there were, we always remove them to make sure those kids are safe.”

Knight also emphasized that investigations rely heavily on the findings of the medical examiner. It is routine for the State Medical Examiner’s Office to take months to issue a report on a death investigation.

Knight added that after the cause of death is determined, detectives then conduct follow-up interviews to clarify what happened.

“It takes a long time to do those,” Knight said.
