OKLAHOMA CITY — A drug buy on the west side of Oklahoma City Saturday resulted in the Fentanyl overdose death of a man, according to police.
Christopher Drake, 47, died at a local hospital Saturday morning from what detectives with the Oklahoma City Police Department (OKCPD) believe to have been an overdose of the drug Fentanyl.
Joshua Askins, 42, had called 911 around 7:00 a.m. that morning asking for help at a convenience store near N.W. 10th and Portland.
When patrol officers arrived they found Drake “unresponsive from what appeared to be a drug-related overdose,” according to a press release.
Askins told officers at the scene that, “he had purchased the Fentanyl he and the victim were using at the time of the victim’s overdose,” said police.
After interviewing Askins further, officers booked Askins into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on a first degree murder complaint in Drake’s death. Bail was denied.
Note: As of publication, the information provided by the OKCPD has not yet been tested in court. Under the law, all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty before a jury of their peers or a plea of guilt.
