Fired OK County Jail detention officer booked for smuggling

OKLAHOMA CITY — A former Oklahoma County Jail detention officer fired in July for smuggling contraband into a state facility was booked Wednesday for smuggling contraband into the Oklahoma County Jail.

According to information provided by Mark Opgrande with the Oklahoma County Jail Trust, Casey Slone was fired from the Oklahoma County Detention Center (Jail) in July when she was arrested by the Oklahoma Department of Corrections for smuggling contraband into a state prison in Pittsburg County.

“Information provided by the Department of Corrections led to our [OCDC] investigators uncovering a specific instance, on May 14, 2024, when Slone allegedly coordinated a contraband drop during her lunch break,” wrote Opgrande in a press release. “Surveillance footage and recorded phone calls indicate she smuggled K2-laced papers and other contraband into the facility and delivered the contraband to a resident.”

Brandi Garner, OCDC CEO, issued a statement about Slone’s arrest.

“The actions of this former detention officer are an outright betrayal of the trust placed in them by the public and their colleagues,” said Garner. “Smuggling contraband into the facility endangers lives, compromises security, and undermines the integrity of our entire justice system. We have zero tolerance for such misconduct. This behavior is not only unacceptable but also a stark reminder of why vigilance and accountability are essential in our work.”

Slone is facing two charges:

  • Carry a weapon, drugs, or alcohol into jail
  • Accessing a computer system or network with unlawful intent

After her arrest, Slone posted a $10,000 bond and was released from custody.
