BETHANY (Oklahoma) — A man and his young daughter were found dead Sunday morning in what police believe was a murder-suicide, according to the Bethany Police Department.
Patrol officers responded to a home at 6908 NW 42nd St. around 11:30 a.m. June 29 after a resident reported that her 29-year-old son had shot and killed himself and his 6-year-old daughter.
When officers arrived, they found the bodies of Billy Feaster and his daughter, Elizibeth Feaster, in the backyard.
Police believe Billy Feaster shot his daughter before turning the gun on himself.
Detectives spoke with witnesses at the scene as part of the initial investigation, which was conducted alongside members of the Medical Examiner’s Office. Authorities said the investigation is ongoing as they work to determine what led to the fatal shooting.
“This is a tragic situation that has deeply impacted our community,” Bethany Police Chief John Reid said in a statement. “Our hearts go out to the family members affected by this devastating loss.”
This is a unique case for the area. Chief Reid told Free Press on Monday that the City of Bethany only has about one homicide per year.
Anyone with information related to the case is encouraged to contact the Bethany Police Department.
