OKLAHOMA CITY — A man was shot and killed early Tuesday in a confrontation on Northwest Expressway, marking the city’s 60th homicide of the year, according to Oklahoma City police.
Officers with the Oklahoma City Police Department were dispatched to check on reports of a shooting just after 2 a.m. in the 3100 block of NW Expressway. When they arrived, they found Jeffrey Gill, 47, in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died at 3:37 a.m., police said.

Police believe Gill had been walking in the roadway when he was approached by a driver, later identified as Darius Williams, 24. The two became involved in a confrontation before Williams allegedly shot Gill.

Williams returned to the scene and spoke with officers, according to police. He was arrested on a complaint of second-degree murder and booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center. Bond has not been set.
Police said the investigation is in its early stages and is ongoing.
