(Oklahoma City, OK) As Oklahoma City Public Schools (OKCPS) gears up for the 2025-2026 school year, we look forward to continuing strong connections between our schools and the community through our volunteer program. All district volunteers are required to renew their application and complete a background check each year, per the OKCPS Board of Education Volunteer Services Policy and Regulations.
The first day of school is Aug. 13, 2025, and we look forward to collaborating with both returning and new volunteers. Whether it’s supporting early literacy through Reading Buddies, mentoring students, assisting with after-school programs and athletics or contributing to campus beautification efforts, there are many ways for community members to get involved.
“We know that when our community steps up, our students benefit,” said Nancy Perdomo, OKCPS Family and Community Engagement Director. “Our volunteers bring warmth, encouragement and a sense of connection to our schools. This year, we’re excited to expand opportunities and make it even easier for people to get involved. If you have a heart for children and want to help them grow academically, we would love to have you apply as a volunteer. We have a place for you!”Volunteers play an important role in helping students thrive both academically and personally. Their time, energy and care are deeply valued across the district. The district encourages those interested in becoming involved and those returning to OKCPS volunteering to learn more on our website at www.okcps.org/volunteers.
